Our family's legacy began in 1947 when my great-grandfather, an architect, fled Lahore for Bombay during the partition. From humble beginnings, he entered the world of gold and diamonds, laying the foundation for a flourishing family business. My father, however, was drawn to something different—Indian rocks. He founded Nikhil Gems, valuing the potential beauty in what others saw as mundane stones. His passing at a young age left me questioning this passion, but over time I came to understand it. Beauty, I learned, is not defined by rarity but by the stories these stones hold. Through Atyāhāra, I aim to tell these stories, to let the Earth's natural creations speak for themselves, allowing you to experience the raw, unrefined beauty that lies beneath the surface.

Atyāhāra was born in 2020, during a time when the world was brought to a standstill. With traditional means of income limited, we turned to our passion for ethically sourced stones and India’s rich rock heritage. Our journey began on Etsy, where we were met with an outpouring of support from clients around the world. That first year marked a pivotal moment for us, as our Etsy shop took off, allowing us to expand and reach clients globally.

At Atyāhāra, our commitment to quality and sustainability begins at the source. India's geological tapestry is as intricate as its cultural heritage. Our work takes us to remote mines, where we work closely with local communities to ethically source the finest raw materials. From the Amethysts of Rajasthan, to the Rubies of Karnataka, to the striking Himalayan Quartz of Kullu, each mine has it's own identity which we try to encover.
